A woman on a path to cultivating a better me through food, fitness, fun, inspiration and education!
An eCommerce Director of Client Relations by day, Paleo lifestyle and innate fitness vigilante by night (or evening, like after 5 when I get off work- I’m in bed by 8:30, whatever).
A loving wife of an amazing man (and freshly deemed hubby as of 9.10.11) and mother to our beautiful boxer, Lucy.
SheShredss is a term of endearment for functional fitness and the Paleo lifestyle. The term “shred” can be though of as “tearing it up” at the gym or in the kitchen. This was originally a name that I came up with for my women’s snowboarding company but it ended up fitting perfectly with my mission for this blog.
I was a smoker for 10 years, and the only form of exercise I did in those 10 years was snowboarding and the occasional yoga class. I was chronically fatigued, a bartender (when means party animal for those of you that weren’t aware that those terms were synonymous), habitually sick, I suffered from skin rashes, difficulty sleeping, mood swings and severe PMS symptoms to name a few. When I quit smoking, it will be 2 years as of July 5th 2012, I put on A LOT of weight. As much as I consciously told myself to “not get fat” while I battle my addition, I did. About 30 lbs to be exact.
My sweet husband proposed to me in December of 2010 when I was at my biggest and I had a serious wake up call. Not only did I realize how horrible I thought I would look in a dress on my wedding day, I was tired of not feeling good about myself. It wasn’t fair to me or my husband to be.
As of today (April 2012), I have lost the 30 lbs that I gained and I’ve also dropped about 8% body fat. This is all thanks to some serious determination, my amazing health coaches at Innate Fitness (Crossfit), Santa Barbara Family Chiropractic, the support of friends and family (and most notably my hubby, who is consequently Paleo and loves it) and living the Paleo Lifestyle. You can see the people who have influenced me most here. I sleep well and spring out of bed in the mornings, am symptom free and have never felt better. I can honestly say I’m in the best shape of my life and I’m not stopping anytime soon.
My future consists of clear and specific fitness goals, lots of blogging and the perpetual improvement of such, the expressiveness of gratitude and love, probably some more tattoos and remembering to “Live to Thrive” every day!
